About the Feldenkrais Method offered at the I.M.U.
I am very grateful for your helping me along on my journey to “free the rib.” Do you remember telling me about how you had a rib or joint move, unexpectedly, after several hours of practicing Feldenkrais movements? You’d mentioned that your energy improved dramatically. By following your advice of “focusing on my problematic/oft-stuck rib,” I’ve been able to move it a little better. While focusing on “the” rib, I try to lift that part of the rib where it attaches to my spine. At the same time I try to hold my shoulders down. Occasionally, I can hear it “crack” or “pop.” Most times I can’t hear or feel anything, but notice my energy, mood, and yes, even my confidence improves. To quote a worn-out saying, it’s a “game-changer” for me.
This method, although not as effective as I think possible, has produced dramatic results. My energy, overall, is a good 5% higher than my usual. That, in itself, is a major factor in living my life to the fullest. The $65 and eight or so hours invested in your class (Frankfort is a pretty good hike from your location) was money and time very well spent.

My meditation practice gets me through every day! It centers me and prepares me for making better choices, and most importantly, the sacred time spent with self is ultimately very healing.
Sheena

I thought I knew a bit about meditation when I started sitting at the I.M.U. sessions, but no, there are many levels! The more I sit, the more I realize I don’t know, so it’s easier to switch the focus and to learn to listen, be and be with it. This then can last all day.
This place – any place one meditates in – becomes sacred. That sacredness mirrors the sacredness within and helps one see better the sacredness in all life around. Meditating, dancing, meditating… and stepping back out into the world each morning has made a huge difference in my daily life.
Meditation is life-changing, anti-aging, building and uplifting.

The IMU has provided an environment in which I can contemplate and attain inner strength and peace. The meditations help me focus on what is truly important besides providing a pleasant atmosphere. Finally my experiences at the IMU have opened up another terrain that has given me insight into my own life, and the emotional and psychological experiences that I have been through

"Meditation at the IMU is simple, straightforward, and yet powerfully grounded in authentic knowledge of stillness and sitting. You will find a community that provides a wonderful space for a journey toward inner peace, increased health and increased self-awareness."
Clare, Aug 2010

My Heart sings when I sit together and afterwards we celebrate Life in Love, Joy of Being, alive in the dance of the moment…
A deep feeling of being at home embodied in unconditional love.
A safe haven to explore my life even deeper, with the different exercises that encourage to take chances and to allow more of the unknown.
A practical practice of every day life with a new awareness of yourself.
A sharing with friends in a deeper way.
A caring way in these sometimes challenging times.
Thank you for this space.
Pia

Since coming to the IMU and meditating regularly for one year now, I am learning to be more present throughout the course of the day. And doing so, I am more aware of its life-changing effects, and learning the art of finding that inner peace and joy. Through this connection with God, creator, or spirit I feel I am manifesting and attracting situations and experiences that are heart-driven and abound in love.
